Due to the recent downturn in work in my day job (well it’s been over a year of being very down…) I have been trying to skill up in new areas to make myself more employable. It seems I should know how to do lighting as well as compositing now if I want to continue working in animation. Which is no bad thing as I am obsessed with lighting anyway. I would quite enjoy exploring that aspect of the CG world. So I got a months free trial of Maya and modelled and lit my own gallery space, or should I say – it was going to be my dream gallery space but that will have to be another project as I have big ideas for that and I think I will attempt that in Unreal Engine, which apparently is the future. My iMac was huffing and puffing a bit under the strain of Maya so I will have to upgrade some tech when I get a job. I did really enjoy my foray into Maya and it demystified a lot for me. Here is my modest art fair stand. Just imagine me at Arco… I would have rendered a camera move around it but I ran out of time with my trial.
